Chula Vista

We have loved staying at the Chula Vista RV Park in the past. It’s beautiful, you can walk to the beach and they also have a pool. Last March they closed because the area is being developed into a hotel and resort. I’m always so sad seeing places like this close.

Well, we were looking for a place to go in August and we wanted it rather close to home because Peyton was coming along. Tom Googled Chula Vista and the RV resort has reopened until the resort is built! We got a spot because everyone thought it closed!! So on Wednesday the adventure of Nana and Papa taking 2 year old Peyton camping began!

We didn’t leave until Thursday around 11:30, but I picked her up Wednesday evening.

We left home and Peyton was asleep within 10 miles!! She slept for an hour or so then we had another hour or so drive. We got here right around 2:00 and got settled. Peyton “helped” set up camp and we took a walk to explore. We ended up on the grassy area and sat in the gliders and laughed a lot!

Dinner was spaghetti and bedtime about 8:15. Papa and Nana were pretty tired too!!

Friday started out early, did I mention she’s 2? After breakfast and Bubble Guppies we went to the beach. Peyton had so much fun playing in the sand and collecting shells. I decided to take those shells and create a “treasure box” for Peyton to store things in when she gets older. The beach in on the bay so no big waves this time. After a couple of hours we walked back, had a snack and she took a 2 hour nap.

Lunch was peanut butter and jelly (of course) and Peyton was just finishing up when Papa got back. He had to find a store that sold covers for our battery on the trailer. When we got to the park, we noticed that the lid had blown off. While Papa was installing a new battery box Peyton and I went for a bike ride. She did really well riding her bike around the park. She does tend to weave, so keeping her out of traffic was a challenge.

When we got back, Papa was done and we all went swimming to the swimming pool. The water was surprisingly warm and we spent a couple of hours enjoying the pool and watching the park fill up with Friday arrivals. We took a long walk after dinner, with Peyton riding her bike. We were amazed at how long she rode for, with Nana running to make sure no cars were coming down the lanes! We both got a work out!

On Saturday, the Cit of Chula Vista was holding “Harborfest” at the park adjacent to the RV park. There were bands, vendors, food and bounce houses! Although Peyton was not brave enough to go into a bounce house (they were kinda big) she did get some sparkles painted on her cheek. We listened to a band, watched some local dance groups perform, had a churro and a snow cone and it was time to head back . After nap we went swimming again. During the weekend there was always time for blowing bubbles, coloring, paying with playdoh and of course eating Popsicles! Peyton may turn into a Popsicle this summer!

Sunday morning we cleaned up after breakfast and headed home. Such a fun trip and hopefully Peyton wants to go camping with us again!
